Joen Laulu (River Song), 2014

Resting among rocks, dragged, washed, and slowly sculpted by the river’s timeless currents, echoes of the past linger quietly in the present. These primal sculptures, shaped through eons, are caught in a perpetual dance of transformation, relocation, and resignification.

The work delves into the vast chasm between geological time and human perception, seeking hidden fragments of a distant past, each stone carrying within it the silent imprint of ages. When lifted from beneath the water’s surface, revealing their current form and place, the work momentarily halts this ancient journey, inviting contemplation of the rock as a time capsule—a vessel of ancient stories, broken and reshaped, yet still whole in its enduring immersion in an uncertain future.
