Favela Offshore, 2019-21

In this video series, originally steady landscape pictures of oil offshore platforms are recreated with the juxtapositions of favela communities images. Through video edition processing, the elements in the landscapes gained motion to connect both structures over a surrealistic speculative fictional-reality.

The visual clash of the two architectonical structures shed light on the contradictions carried by the industrial society’s large scale exploitation systems, which resonates in the physical and conceptual manifestations of the globalized market that produces enormous social gaps. The work culminates is immersive high definition “picture-in motion” video installations.
